Heart of Texas
Cremation & Burial Service

Veterans are entitled to several burial benefits. Some of these
benefits may also extend to spouses and dependent children. You
must have the veterans discharge (DD-214) or retirement orders in
order to receive these benefits. You do not need proof of eligibility if
an eligible veteran is already buried at Ft. Sam Houston National
Cemetery. Listed below are some of the benefits.

For burials or inurnments at
Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in
San Antonio or
Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen,
eligible veterans, their spouse and dependent children are entitled to
the following:

  • Grave space or cremation niche (if husband and wife are both
eligible veterans, each veteran is entitled to individual grave
    spaces).
  • Opening and closing of grave or niche
  • Concrete grave liner
  • Grave marker or niche plaque (if husband and wife are both
eligible veterans, each veteran is entitled to individual grave
    markers).
  • Flag for the veteran (draped on casket or folded for service
    with urn)
  • Military Honors Detail from the veterans branch of service (the
Honors Detail generally needs 48 hours notice)
  • Presidential Memorial Certificate

We will assist you with scheduling an inurnment at
Arlington National
Cemetery
or any other Veterans Administration Cemetery or State
Veterans
Cemetery. We will mail the urn to the cemetery or you can
take the urn to the cemetery yourself.
